SIGNS OF SPRING LIFE

Glorious sunshine and a warming wind from the south west. The eastern towhee has been seen if not heard. Cardinals are very active, which is more than one can ascribe to many of the red-cassocked Roman clergy. Daffodils are now in full bloom, and buds are appearing everywhere. Plus the very fact that I have been in shirt sleeves all day must announce something!

I did not fish, preferring instead a post-luncheon nap and a a little tackle maintenance. I did however wander down to the pond and quietly watched. After a few minutes a large dark shadow appeared under the water some thirty feet from me, then broke the surface with a splash. A bass, probably three pounds in weight. (Oh at least!) Yes, spring is here.
