A NEW SEASON?

Today the sun has shone consistently for the first day in a while, and despite the persistent and gusty north-west wind the temperatures have climbed into the mid fifties Fahrenheit. Glancing at the forecast for the week I note with glee that even higher temperatures are expected, with no frost. That means one thing for this rather impatient angler: The water temperature of the now replenished ponds will be rising. Given that the local smallmouth bass are said to begin spring feeding habits when their habitat reaches forty-seven degrees this bodes well. I feel a few hours rod and line maintenance coming on tomorrow, and perhaps a short visit with waders to a shallow, sandy incline.
